In this ted talks courtney E. martin a journalist, talks about the new america. how for the first time in american history, parents will think that kids will not be better off then they were. courtney presents her thoughts with insight and statictics on how goals were set decades ago, and how they are set in today's generation. for exapmle when she talks about how, "by 2020 over half the american working class will be freelancers." she also compares this statment with the fact that being a freelancer in the 60's is considered a "more sophisticated word for homeless." this quote can be related to our book "the great gatsby" where during that time, millions of americans were enjoying success due to the stock market and those who were homeless were either a different race, came back from the war, Etc. those people as a result of being poor, were treated awfully and often times put into violent situations. however courtney says that without looking at the salary and pursing what you live in this generation, the number can pursue you. not likw it did back in the generations before this one, which is why she is calling this the "new american dream." "the new american dream is a new dream with more options and better oppertuntites then before!" courtney mostly uses logos in her ted talks by talking about the community of the past and the present by presenting statistics and stats. she also chlannges our view of the american dream and how bad millions of americans say it is. she says that their are not just one but millions of american dreams, the american dream should be a dream that you want, not what other people want for you. this statement also challenges the global dream as well by showing that dreams should basically be your dreams, not somoeone elses. overal i thought this was one kf the best ted talks ive seen so far. it really helped me understand what the "new american dream" is and how positive it can be, if you just make it positive for yourself
